Highlighting the hair gives it a glow and dimension to the hairstyle. It also makes you look younger. By varying the
shade and intensity of the colour depending on your skin colour, you can achieve the effect that you want.
!
Two days before coloring, wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo but never use shampoo on the day, you want to color
your hair. Never use hair color whose expiry date has already crossed and never store the left away mixture for later use.
STEP 1: Consider your natural hair color and the contrast you desire when highlighting hair. All of us can highlight our
hair effectively. Results will vary depending on your original hair color and the formula you choose.
STEP 2: Highlighting, finger painting or streaking your hair is meant to add depth to your hair and lighten up your overall look.
The color must compliment your natural hair color or the color with which your cover your hair fully. Choose the color for
highlight that is at least 2 shades lighter than the rest of your hair to bring it to notice but do not go for colors more
than 3 shades lighter as it might actually give an odd contrast and look unnatural.
STEP 3: Decide which effect you are after - subtle or dramatic - and choose the technique that suits your needs. Your options
include combing the solution through your hair, pulling select strands through a hair cap and painting the color on
select strands, or painting selected strands free-hand with a proper kit.
STEP 4: Seek the advice of a professional colorist or your stylist in at-home coloring if you are unsure how to best go
about highlighting hair.
STEP 5: Follow directions exactly to avoid any highlighting mishaps. |
